Cascading style sheets can be very powerful when used correctly. The best feature being the cascading effect. A genral style definition for an entire site can be stored as separate file within a website. This is overridden by styles embeded within a single page, which are again overridden again by attributes assigned to particular elements. New style classes can be created and existing HTML tags can be converted, thus existing websites can get a face lift just by linking each page to a .css file
